Knowledge Management System of Shenyang Institute of Automation, CAS
Tianran WANG has been with the Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) since 1967, and had been the director of SIA from 1994 to 2003. He is currently the director of Academic Committee of SIA. He received his B.S. in Computer Science from Harbin Institute of Technology in 1967. Prof. WANG has been engaged in artificial intelligence and intelligent control, large-scale industrial automation system and engineering application, industrial robot key technology etc. His research has been continuously funded by both national basic and applied research agencies. Prof. WANG is one of the academic leaders in China’s robot and automation engineering and technology field. During the period of being SIA director, WANG headed the establishment of Advanced Manufacturing Technology Research and Development Base, and organized the implementation of several national-level research program, gaining a series of technology achievements with self-owned intellectual property rights. In particular, he exhibited outstanding contributions in industrial robot key technology breakthrough and in promoting the industrialization of China's robot technologies. Prof. WANG took the lead to compose Advanced Manufacturing Technology in China: A Roadmap to 2050, and the strategy planning in Advanced Manufacturing of Innovation 2020 of CAS. His research work has received national recognition through winning several prestigious awards such as State Science and Technology Progress, National Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions, Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Progress Award.
WANG is very active in serving professional communities. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Information and Control, the General Chairman of Liaoning Association for Science and Technology, Deputy Director General of Chinese Association of Automation, Director General of Liaoning Association of Automation. He had been the member of expert committee in advanced manufacturing of National High-tech R&D Program (863 Program).
